Louise's Sports Therapy

What is Sports Therapy?

Sports therapy is a healthcare profession that specifically cares for muscle, tendon and ligament injuries so that clients can achieve their maximal functional (movement) and physical fitness potential. BSc therapists have an in depth knowledge of how to treat injury from the first initial stages of the injury occurring right through to rehabilitation.

What else can a Sports Therapist do?

As a BSc qualified sports therapist i am also qualified to provide gait analysis, ultrasound treatment, joint mobilisations (to enhance movement to the joint to enable to move more efficiently) and postural assessments.
As a sports therapist it is important as a professional to keep up to date with new techniques for dealing with injuries by going to CPD (continual professional development) courses. These courses allow me to continue learning after my degree as well as helping me maintain my high level standard of profession. So far already after a year of completing my degree i have participated in many CPD courses such as:
Joint mobilisation, K-Tape, METS (muscle energy techniques), Ankle and Knee master-classes, Achilles and quadriceps tendon master-class and Patellofemoral pain syndrome.
